WHEPWHEP
 

is a 4-H Program designed to Promote Youth development in the Areas of:

  • interpersonal/social skills
  • Leadership
  • Decision making
  • Oral and written communication
  • Team work


is also designed to Increase youth understanding of wildlife ecology by teaching the fundamentals of wildlife management through habitat  valuation and manipulation.

There are Five Activities in WHEP that revolve around habitat management:
  • Judging wildlife foods
  • Judging aerial photographs
  • Habitat recommendation practices
  • Rural wildlife management plan
  • Urban wildlife management plan

 Habitat Regions

  • The United States is separated into fourteen different "Regions" in WHEP.
  • These "Regions" were created by identifying those areas having similar climate, vegetation and wildlife.
  • Six out of those fourteen occur in Texas.
